Finland Visa waiver bilateral agreement with Australia

On the follow up of the investigation regarding the Australia Visa waiver bilateral agreements in Schengen space, below is the reply we received from the Finland Embassy in Canberra.

The Finland embassy was one of the embassies that gave us the clearest answer regarding our query on the bilateral agreements, providing even further clarification regarding what could happen when visiting the other Schengen countries that may not have similar agreements.

Extract from email received from the Finland embassy in Canberra dated 23 October 2018:

"For Australian or New Zealand citizens: You can stay in Finland for 90 days without a visa, in addition to 90 days elsewhere in the Schengen area. You can arrive to Finland at any point of your stay in the Schengen area. However, please make sure that you collect border stamps to prove your stay as this is not automatically done inside the Schengen area. You have to be able to prove to the border control that you are in compliance with the visa free stay rules."

Extract from email received from the Finland embassy in Canberra dated 23 October 2018:

"There is a bilateral visa waiver agreement still in effect between Finland and Australia. This agreement allows citizens of Australia an additional 90/180 days to visit Finland (including the other Nordic countries) regardless of the time spent in the Schengen region immediately preceding entry from such a country."
